Drive to Fight Lung Cancer
We are excited to announce that Jim King has successfully returned from his adventure to help in the fight against lung cancer. He drove his 1956 Porsche from Syracuse to Carmel, California, a distance of nearly 3,000 miles, to attend the Porsche Race Car Classic on October 13 -16. This event was held to raise money and awareness for the Bonnie J. Addario Lung Cancer Foundation and the University of California, San Francisco Thoracic Oncology Program.
Jim's car was covered with graphics highlighting lung cancer awareness. Lung cancer is the deadliest of all the major cancers combined, yet the least funded.
Along his trip, Jim sold raffle tickets for a new Porsche convertible. The proceeds went to continuing lung cancer research.
Jim's Porsche has only recently been restored to running condition but he is undaunted. "I have my AAA card, and I will just ask them to tow me to the nearest U-Haul and from there I will keep going!"

King + King Unveils New Green Roof
King + King unveiled its new green roof - made possible through a matching $100,000 Green Improvement Fund grant provided by Onondaga County under County Executive Joanie Mahoney's leadership. The grant allowed King + King to install its green roof by funding the design, engineering and construction for the project.
King + King's new 12,000 sq. ft. sustainable roof is one of only a few specially designed and implemented green infrastructures in Central New York. The new roof insulates and cools the building - decreasing energy needed.
More importantly, it helps absorb stormwater which reduces input into the municipal system. By decreasing water into the sewage treatment facility - the County can avoid building additional sewage plants that would impact taxpayers.
In order to bring the green roof to life - King + King partnered with Cannan & Alexander LLC based in Rochester for sustainable supplies and local firm Henderson-Johnson Co., Inc. for construction. King + King and its local partners are gearing up for the next green roof planned at St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center.
King + King Participates in CANstruction to Benefit Food Bank of CNY

All canned goods used for the event were donated to the Food Bank of Central New York. CANstruction is touted as one of the most unique food charities in the world. Since its inception, ten million pounds of food have been donated.
K2 Contributes to suckerPUNCH
King + King participated in suckerPunch - an open international ideas competition highlighting the integrated design of an innovative music venue in the east river state park located in Williamsburg Brooklyn.
The new park is the site of the 'JELLY Pool Parties' summer concert series which brings 10,000 fans to the site on Sunday afternoons to enjoy free performances by progressive independent artists.
suckerPUNCH (an online design blog and competition site) challenges designers to develop a network of stages and facilities which can accommodate and enhance these performances through a progressive design strategy.
As the epicenter of cutting edge music, art, and fashion in Brooklyn, Williamsburg demands an architectural intervention that integrates the most contemporary of design ideas, techniques and processes.
